Why is it the case we leave to the political parties, the politicians to set the narrative...to draw the line as to what the average voter will choose as to what is important to all of us...elections come, and we the electorate are bombarded with political advertisements that more often than not only serve to disparage the opposing party, these adverts have no real substance and we the voters are left to choose the closest thing to what may reflect our values, our wants and needs...
What if I as a future Independent candidate...were to have multiple town hall meetings throughout regional NSW (as was the case a hundred years ago), to not only make the grand visionary speeches but then shift the focus towards the constituents, the voters within theses halls...the pubs and clubs, and asked a simple but important question...
"If there were to be ten of the most important priorities of the time, what would they be?"...
Could consensus be reached from within each town hall, each pub or club (that was travelled in the lead up to the election)...could I as this Independent candidate use basic technology such as multiple (small) computer tablets, all hooked up together within the halls...to ask basic multiple choice questions of those that turned up, to then have after multiple town hall meetings (over multiple townships)...come up with the ten of the highest priority concerns that any future Member Of Parliament could then commit to...sign on the bottom line to...as being the ten democratically voted priorities to be the focus of this Member Of Parliaments future in Canberra...
Ask yourself why it cannot be that we the people insist...we instruct our representatives (in a public way) in the lead up to an election...what we the people see as our priorities...do we only get to settle or choose from what a particular party suggests is important or could we embrace the Independent who has the future vision and courage for this to take place in our collective futures...See what we can do.
